How VLEAD actually works.
A structured, semester-based leadership program built around real volunteer placements — not just hours logged.
One program, four rotations, real growth.
Each VLEAD cohort runs for a full school year. Students are placed with a different community partner each quarter, take on a defined leadership role in that placement, and meet weekly as a group for coaching and reflection.
By the end of the year, every student has explored at least four different volunteer settings, led at least one project from start to finish, and built a portfolio they can speak to in college applications, interviews, and beyond.
Five steps, one school year
Apply
A short written application and a conversation with our program team — no minimum experience required.
Orientation
A half-day kickoff covering expectations, safety, and the leadership framework students will use all year.
Choose a track
Students rank their interests and are matched with a partner organization for their first rotation.
Serve & lead
Weekly placements with a defined leadership responsibility, plus a weekly group coaching session.
Reflect & celebrate
Each rotation ends with a reflection project, and the year closes with a student-led showcase for families and partners.
Applications for next semester are open.
We accept new students on a rolling basis, with priority placement for applications received before each semester begins. Space in each rotation is limited to keep the leadership roles meaningful.

Any student in grades 8–12 who's curious about leadership, service, or simply trying something new. No prior volunteer experience is required — just a willingness to show up and take initiative.
